This brilliant company came up with a ceramic coffee mug and travel mug (I have both!) that are seamlessly temperature-controlled via an app. Ladies and gents: My mornings have never been better!
How Do These Things Work?!
Through the Ember app, available on Android or iOS, the temp of the mug can be set in an instant. Ember mugs are super sleek, and each one comes with a charging coaster. As long as it’s resting on the battery-fueled base, it will stay connected to the app and remain at the desired temperature.
Removed from the charging coaster, the mug will operate for up to one hour on full battery power — I can leave my desk and keep my coffee hot throughout an entire meeting. Variables like external temperature, the temperature of the pour, and the rate at which the liquid is being consumed will affect how long the battery power will keep the mug fired up away from the charging station. Your best bet? Just keep it on the coaster when you can!
I’m obsessed with the feature that lets me save temperature presets for specific drinks like, “Daily Coffee” at 137 degrees or “Spiced Chai” at 105 degrees. Once I find the perfect temperature to sip my drink, it’s reassuring to know I can save the data in the app so no time will be wasted in the future when it comes to adjusting temperature settings every morning. Think of it as your very own barista!
What Else Can the Mugs Do?
Everyone will be asking you about your mug. It’s like the Apple Watch (when it first came out) of coffee mugs, and everyone loves coffee … or tea! Available in classic black or white, the sleek design can be further customized with an app-controlled LED light that sits at the base of the mug, and that’s not all the app can do. You can also name your mug — my travel mug is named “Madonna” and my ceramic mug is personalized with a pink LED light. Naming your mug via the app or personalizing it with an LED light comes in handy when you use multiple Ember mugs, like I do. I use the ceramic mug at my desk and then I use a travel mug during my wintry commute or when I’m venturing into the outdoors on a cold day.
Similar to a classic coffee mug, Ember’s version will hold 10 ounces of liquid. The temperature ranges from 120 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit, and it’s possible to switch the temperature reading to Celsius through the app. Consider how temperature affects the satisfaction of a sip, from keeping taste buds fully functioning and enhancing the notes of a particular blend, to providing a physical warmth that’s soothing in the middle of a stress-packed office day. Trust: When your drink is the right temp, you can conquer anything in the morning.
